Big Waves
Yesterday was pretty sweet... Headed down to Pantem beach, the one with the Big Ass expensive resort... The waves there are always great, especially when the tide is on its way in. Went body surfing for probably four hours with Ralph and the girls.
Took a face plant in the sand once which kind of hurt, but all the naked sunbathing euro-women made me feel a lot better about it.
Picked up my plane tickets this morning, got an e-mail from my good buddy Wyrm and am just generally relaxing.
Finished Captain Courageous by Kipling... I have to say that the book didn't really do it for me, it was a nice story, but one that has been re-hashed in so many ways... Rich kid gets in bad circumstance, lower-class people turn him in to a good person, family of rich kid rewards fishermen... All looks good in the future.
Don't get me wrong, it is well written though... I had to chuckle when Kipling dropped a few Masonic tid-bits not so discreetly.
So this afternoon, around 2pm when the sun isn't quite as hot, I'll head back down to the beach and enjoy the waves again.
I mailed my sleeping bag and some other stuff that was too big in my bag yesterday too, I didn't go to the post office because its in the next town... I used a store on the beach and it cost about $40 for seamailing 4KG to Canada... That is like 1/3 more than it would cost at the post office, but you pay for the store to broker the stuff and make your life easier.
My German vocabulary is growing because I've been hanging out with lots of Germans here... though I'm sad to report it's nothing "good" but extremely amusing. LOL.
Sweet Ass is certainly an import one.

Post Office Woes

Bosphorus Ferry Tour

So I was down at the post office this morning and trying to mail two packages. One was a telephone to Kadir in Ankara that I borrowed and the other was some misc trinkets and stuff for my parents.
First thing to know is that the Turkish Post Office inspects all packages. They go through them and open everything.
Spice Baazar package not allowed.
Turkish Delight... not allowed??
20 Euro worth of coins and bills that I've gathered through Eastern Europe... Nope... Can't send any currency in the mail.
To top it off I accidently dropped something and it smashed on the marble floor... it was quite cheap but still I thought it was annoying considering I only purchased it 20 minutes prior.
So my package ended up being less than great.... Consider half of its contents couldn't be mailed. As for the mobile, luckily I have friends here that can send it... Why can they send it?? Beats me.
But not to dwell on the post office I bought some worry beads today... haha I got a set and also got a giant set for my Dad, they are a cool hobby to spin them around when you are bored or just a trinket in the hand.
I purchased these PRIOR to going to the post office lol... I didn't run out and get them afterwards.
I'm going to meet Semih in about an hour in Taksim so I am already here, just killing time for a little while and having this sugar bread thing.
Tonight I'll go over to the four seasons later in the evening and say goodbye to all of the friends I've made there and perhaps share in a toast of raki.
