Krakow Drinking

Sadly I don't have a lot of new pictures because the speed of the connection is quite slow here :( Yesterday Peter and I continued our biking adventures and headed down to the Castle in Krakow by the waterfront.

The Castle is quite nice, but after seeing so many castles and historical buildings all the time I guess I'm getting a bit numb to them. It's pretty rare when I come across something that just makes me go, Wow.

So after the bike adventure we hit the main market square and drank beer from about noon to midnight. With brief pauses for Polish food and Kebabs.

We headed in to a few different night clubs in the city but the vibe just isn't there. Most of the clubs are over run by 18-20 year old kids, especially all the high season tourists from North America and Western Europe. I didn't stick around very long and just slipped out and came back to crash for the night.

Today I am heading to Auschwitz, which should make for a rather interesting day. I wonder if Peter will make it up, I bet he's hung over big time. LOL.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Warsaw (again) and will spend a couple days there. Then I'm heading to the Ukraine. I don't know where or anything yet!

Measuring Beer by the Litre

Haake Beck Beer

After traveling through many countries and seeing how different societies see beer consumption, I have to laugh at what I've realized.

Back in Canada if you went to the bar you might keep track of how many beers you drank, perhaps popping the caps in your pocket or just making a mental note. The standard beer being 0.33L.

After traveling for a while you no longer count by "beers" you start counting by Litres. I'm not sure if it's a good thing, perhaps it gives you a false sense of how much alcohol you are actually consuming.

I would say on the average party night out at the bar, the average guy drinks about 2-3 litres of beer. That works out to about 6-10 0.33L bottles of beer for the evening.

I think there is multiple benefits to counting in Litres. The primary reason being you don't have to count so high, the second is most countries have standard 0.5L bottles which are cheaper per litre than the smaller brother.

Final thoughts?

Beer = Good.

Adventure Czech Republic

Prague was a full-on assault on my Liver. Let's just say that drinking is very affordable and there is no shortage of other travelers interested in drinking with you. I met up with a few guys from the UK and well... There was more than one blurry night. Some how I always woke up with Döner sauce on my shirt or face and horrible beer farts.

Seems I didn't really write too much on my blog. Probably because I was drunk or recovering from being drunk. Interesting when you look back on things eh?
