Ignorant Bangkok TukTuk Driver
So there I was, going for a walk this morning... When I start talking to a couple of guys. They seemed friendly enough and were suggesting different tourist things to see. Anyways, after a while, they were trying pretty hard to get me to take a TukTuk. Much cheaper than I estimate it "should" cost.
So anyways, I told the guy I was just going for a walk, take some pictures... Maybe I would check out the sights later. I thanked him and he started to follow me a little bit. Anyways, he friggin sorta flicked me on my chin and said "Then you are stupid."
I'm like a little stunned at this guy, and tried not to get angry, though I really was. I just said that perhaps you would have customers if you weren't such an asshole. Then I walked away. As he drove by in his tuktuk with two other guys (I didn't see them before) he spat at the ground and sped off.
Now, this sort of things can happen from time to time when traveling. I don't know if they were planning on jacking me, or were honest people, or if he just really wanted a fare. I was angry for about 5 minutes after, then I walked along the water front which is really beautiful. I took some pictures and just enjoyed the area.
Sadly the National Museum and Art Gallery are closed today. So looks like I'll be getting that done tomorrow. I asked a couple places and suits cost around 70-80 Euro to be custom made. Which is funny, this morning the first place I asked wanted 2500 Baht for two pairs of pants only. I never buy from the first place I ask anyway, but some people will always try to rip you off.
So far Bangkok has been not at all what I expected. Most of the normal people I've met on the street or at restaurants have been really friendly and kind. So don't think I'm bangkok bashing with this post. It's a beautiful city and the people have been great, with the exception of this one little incident. But really in the end what was it, a couple minutes of rude people, nothing to get in the way of a good holiday :)
The heat is really bad for me though, I think Cambodia is calling soon. Then I'll make my way back to Bangkok over land... Maybe fly to Cambodia, there is many cheap flights, it's not very far :)
