So very very tired.
Ok, Last post was from back in Jhansi, so what happened after that...
I met up with Bro Dubey and we attended lodge that night in Jhansi which was cool, and then I headed back to the hotel for the worst nights sleep... The hotel itself wasn't that bad, but there is a problem with hotels in India right now, it's wedding season and most are full and there are festivals and things I'm not really sure about going on.
Out in the alley way behind the hotel there was a guy chanting prayers over a loud speaker for 24 hours straight. I was told this is something to do with one of the weddings going on and he was doing it prior to the wedding. He was the main culprit for keeping me away, even with ear plugs I couldn't block it out. To be honest it sounds very nice, its a repetitive chant with a good drum beat. But after 7 hours of rolling in bed I really wanted to throw my mattress out the window at him...
The secondary problem that night was the mosquitoes, there was no mosquito net or screens on the window, so every once and awhile you would get that zzzzzzz in the ear, or one buzzing around your nose. Grr... LOL.
I met up with Bro Dubey again in the morning and we got on his scooter... TOO funny because two grown met and a 50 lbs backpack is just way too much on this little thing... he laughed and said not to worry, it's an Indian scooter :)
He took me out to breakfast at the train station and then I headed down to Bhopal... I didn't leave the station in Bhopal, I just boarded another train that was leaving in an hour to Sanchi... This was a real experience, for 24 Rupees I was on a "local" train which is a really different experience. Seats, max ticket sales... we'll have none of that. I was sitting near one of the entry doors on my backpack because a couple of the soldiers on the train made room for me. there was over 15 people just in an 8x10 foot area which is not "designed" to hold people but be an entry way to get to the seating area of the train. Oh well, it was only a 40 minute ride and it was a pretty neat experience... I wouldn't want to do a long haul trip that way, or fall asleep on the train so I couldn't guard my stuff... but it was interesting. We will leave it at that.
So arriving in Sanchi was disappointing, almost all the hotels were totally full. Wedding season strikes again! There was a slightly more expensive place for 500 Rs a night, which I bargained down to 400 Rs a night, it's really posh (for India cheap hotels). It's got a double bed, closet, bathroom, hot water, toilet paper included (rare), TV and just generally really clean and nice. As I went to bed guess what I heard? Yep, chanting over loud speaker... but it only lasted about an hour so I ended up getting a fantastic night sleep. I woke up this morning, had a shower, a nice egg omelet and toast with tea for breakfast and now I'm plugging away on a computer. I think I'll spend three nights here, I need a break from being a tourist LOL.
Yes I realize it's sad that I need a vacation from my vacation... but it's very tiring traveling for a long time.
And finally on this post I'd like to wish my Mother Deb a very Happy Birthday tomorrow! I don't think I will be able to telephone over the Internet from here because it's dial up and skype won't be very happy! But if you know my mother and her e-mail address, send her some birthday wishes on the 22nd :)
Love you Mom!
