For about a month I've wanted real bacon and eggs, but its impossible to get. You can get eggs and fry them up yourself, but bacon, like the kind of Bacon we eat at home isn't almost no where to be found. But this Pink Palace hostel has it... Mmmm....
So anyways, after that was done I headed in to Corfu Town, the main city on the island. The place is just beautiful, I walked around for about 5 hours just taking pictures, I went to the old castle and spent a good 2 hours looking at everything.
Then it was time to do some shopping...
Socks were first on the list and putting on a fresh pair of new soft socks after my last pair of old ones had five holes in them is almost as good as the Bacon and Eggs.
I needed a new backpack (not my big rucksack, just a day pack)... I purchased really crappy one in Sarajevo at a market for about 10 dollars and it lasted a month, I could have used it for another couple of weeks but it was pretty hurting and you could see the seams all pulling away. So I bought this pretty decent one for 25 euros, sure its expensive, but this one I'm pretty sure will last at least six months of hard use.
Next it was off to the cheap-ass clothing shops... I bought a Collared TShirt with long sleeves with really ugly multi-coloured stripes for 7 euro... It's good material and I think it will last, and it should make a good conversation piece because its really ugly LOL. I also picked up a pair of decent quality jeans because to be honest my other pants were starting to stink and I needed more trousers so I could put the others in the wash.
Next was a Tri-Pod for my camera, I've been looking all over Albania for one of these but with no luck at all. I finally got a really cool one today, its very small and lightweight. It's been pissing me off trying to get good night shots without one... You put your camera on a box, or the ground or a seat to try and steady it at night then shove papers under to get the right heights... Horrible... this will save me a lot of wasted time trying to find a place to steady the camera.
And FINALLY, on the way home I picked up some air spray for making a room smel nice... It's all I could find and I blasted my boots with it for a couple of minutes... I was sitting on the bus today and realized I could smell my boots just sitting there on my feet. Nasty.
So, as you can see... it's been a very full day!
Drunk guy had 14 euro this morning, he bought a couple of beer and headed in to town also. His stuff is still here, as-in he didn't check out... but he doesn't have any money... So unless he finds some in town begging it should make for an interesting scene. Plus there is no buses this evening either and he needs to get back to the hostel. It's like a soap opera unfolding.
So this was a long winded rant, but it was a fun day, I have new clothes, and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm leaving Corfu to mainland Greece on the 5th, which I think is a couple-or-three days from now.
