How To Pack It?

So I was struggling with how I want to mount the sleeping bag / bivy bag and tent on to my backpack because it just wasn't fitting properly with the given straps. The tent would fit normally at the bottom just fine, but then if you drop your pack you could bend the rods of the tent.

Additionally, the bag which the sleeping bag came in was not the right size... So instead I put the sleeping bag inside the bivy bag and rolled it up as one. It's a little larger but it'll be waterproof and easy to roll out when I need it.

The tent I've decided to strap vertically to the outside of the pack... But how? I tried various sized bungee cords and things like that, but they didn't work out the way I wanted. Plus with the bungees there is the possibility the tips could puncture the bag.

So I went down to North Bay Canoe and Kayak which is right around the corner from where I live and picked up 20 feet of 1 inch nylon strapping, and 8 clamping pieces. I'll sew the straps solid to one side of the clamp and end up with a nice loop. Then I'll run it through the little loops on the outside of my pack and I'll be able to secure the tent quite easily!

I'll take pictures of the process for creating the looping straps as I do them... I also re-folded all my gear to try and make it all smaller. I'm going to put a garbage bag inside the whole backpack to help make it even more water resistant. Over all things are looking good.
